Morganite

Discovered at the turn of the century - for some gemologists in California (1902) and for others in Madagascar (1911) - the stone was named morganite by a renowned American mineralogist born in 1856: George Frederick Kunz, who was one of the main instigators of the creation of the carat as a unit of measurement for precious stones.
